"How weird it is to think I used to not know of your existence. I somehow lived my life without ever knowing you were a person. Once we met though, god I haven’t been able to get you out of my head since. It’s hard to imagine I used to be able to live my life without you consuming my head with thoughts."

Hey girl! I just read up on your testimony and the part about all US foods being fake really intrigued me. I understand already that so much of our food is processed, but I was wondering if you knew of any articles that could further my knowledge of that? Also, I feel like it's hard to eat local in my town, but maybe I'm just not looking in the right places. We have farmers markets all summer long, but when it's closed for the winter i feel at a loss!
First of all let me just say I am so happy that I played even if a tiny part in that. I feel like it’s such an important issue for us fitblrs to be talking about and it’s really not getting enough attention. I put together a little resource list for you here that I hope you find helpful. Thank you so much for your question!
Foodbabe.com - Vani is AMAZING. She is literally changing the food industry the way nobody before her has been able to. She has a lot of information about harmful substances in our foods such as Cellulose (wood pulp), Natural flavors, and bleaching agents, among many more. Also check out how she’s changing Kraft, Chickfila, and Subway.
100daysofrealfood - Another great lady. Lisa writes a lot about her children and family and how they eat but she also has a LOT of very helpful information. Some of my fav articles by her include ones about stocking your kitchen with healthy food, How to avoid processed food (steps, reasons, and more). She also writes a lot of relatable and helpful articles like how to keep it cheap, how to shop at a supermarket, and the farmer’s market.
Localharvest.org - This website allows you to enter your city or zipcode to find Farmer’s markets, local produce, CSAs and co-ops, farms, and everything you could possibly ever need.
EWG - The Environmental Working group gives you so many good resources. I personally have the dirty dozen and clean 15 list saved in my phone for quick reference when I need it. They also have a whole page of extremely helpful consumer guides.
Some documentaries and videos - Food matters, Food, inc, Forks over knives, and TED Talks: Chew on this (especially Jamie Oliver’s).
Also, here is the original link I posted, and a similar question I answered before.
This is all I could think of atm. I will add more if I think of any. I hope you find this helpful :)
I noticed how horrible our food was when I went to Italy. It literally changed my life
Omg I love foodbabe.com!!!
Me too! She is the greatest!!
Omg this is amazing. A must read! :)
"When I say I want to travel I don’t mean I want to stay at resorts and go on tours with tour guides or buy key chains from souvenir shops. I don’t want to be a tourist. When I say I want to travel I mean I want to explore another country and become part of it. I want to discover small coffee shops in Germany and Italy and France. I want to walk on beaches in Australia and browse the book stores of England. I want to hike the Great Wall of China and go cliff diving in Hawaii I want to meet people who are not like me, but people who I can like all the same. I want to take pictures of things and places and people I meet. I want my mind to be in constant awe of life on earth. I want to see things with new eyes. I want to look at a map and be able to remember how I was transformed by the places I’ve been to the things I’ve seen and the people I’ve met. I want to come home and realize that I have not come home whole but have left a piece of my heart in each place I have been. This, I think, is what is at the heart of Adventure and this is why I plan on making my life one."
